The recall concerns Toyota Tundra and Tundra Hybrid vehicles from model years 2022\u20132025, manufactured between June 30, 2021, and March 20, 2025. These models are equipped with backup lights featuring a special assembly that uses a specific adhesive to secure the ventilation plug.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Tacoma model, produced at Toyota Motor Manufacturing’s plant in Baja California (Mexico) for the North American market, is also included in the recall, although not all recalled vehicles were sold in the U.S. The lights are supplied by Hella Automotive (Mexico).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While the NHTSA report states that approximately 1% of Tacoma models have this defect, Toyota notes that the exact number is currently unknown. For reporting purposes, the company has used the 1% figure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to NHTSA, this is Toyota’s sixth recall in 2024. Overall, the company has announced 16 recalls this year, having sold over 2.3 million vehicles in the U.S. last year\u2014less than some competitors.
